Jeg vil huske ditt gode humør og dine artige oppmuntrende kommentarer. Alltid kjekt å treffe deg på jobb. Gøy å oppleve interessen din for prosjekter på andre avdelinger. Lånte en ryggsekk av deg som du ikke ville ha tilbake, «dere har bedre bruk for den». Vil minnes deg med et smil når jeg bruker den. Varmeste hilsener til Vera og familien.

First of all, I am sorry of Terje passing so late and my thoughts are with the family. I first met Terje whilst organisating and completing my University placement at NINA. He had the air of a quiet, wise mentor about him, always happy to answer my barage questions and queries and importantly gave me time out of his work. Most of all he was a massive inspiration to persue work within the field of limnology and fish. He gave me a copy of one of his books on Thingvalavaten which now has even more significance. I will miss his council and enthusiasm. Sam

Kjære Terje, takk for en fantastisk reise sammen gjennom livet. Mitt liv ville ikke vært det samme uten deg.

I got to know Terje as the grandfather of my best friend Raven, what I remember best is, when for the first time I was invited to their beautiful cabin, and we went fishing. In the early morning on this huge lake that reflected the sky, and we were pulling in fishing nets that were full of fish. The fish were really pretty and shiny. After we hauled the fish into our boat, we sailed back to the cabin. There, he gutted the fish and prepped them to be frozen. It was really interesting to see. I remember Terje as someone who was a really open person. He was really good at teaching and explaining things. He was able to explain how the world works without it being too difficult for a 12-year-old to understand, but he also did not dumb things down. I think he really loved nature. And he knew how to take care of it. I am really happy that Vera and him let me come with them to their cabin, together with Raven, because it was so beautiful. And because in Canada and Holland, people dont go off into the forest and just live with nature and it was so amazing to just be there and being at peace with the world around you in a way that you are very rarely anywhere else. So thank you so very much for that. It is something I will take with me in my heart forever, wherever I go.

En meget kunnskapsrik person, hyggelig, lun, og alltid med en god kommentar og latter på lur. Gode minner fra Trondheims-konferansene, fra vitenskapskomiten under konvensjonen om biologisk mangfold i Mexico og prosjekter i Costa Rica. Hvil i fred.
